When you go into the area that lets you make new layers and stuff, there's also an option that says "Duplicate". Choosing this will make a complete copy of whatever layer you're on. Then you can take whatever part of the layer that you want to clone, select and move it to wherever you want it, and then merge the layer duplicate with the original. Hope this helps! :]
