OOOOH... rubs hands together bc ive been interested in sewing lately
if ur not sure how to figure out the best shapes for ur pattern just by drawing alone, it can help to get some kind of sculptable/carvable material (clay, foam, even the... whats it called. the shiny crinkly stuff you wrap over food to keep it fresh :sob:) and sculpt a miniature version of what your project will look like, then drape scrap fabrics over the sculpture (or use a layer of clear wrap n then tape) to draw out your pattern!! so you would make lines on ur material for where you want seams and darts... seams are obviously where the bulk of your sewing would go, but darts are what helps shape the fabric and what you cut some fabric out of to help ur material lay flat, anywhere you see fabric naturally wanting to bunch up is a good place to put darts ^^
idk if im making sense lol but its a super useful method, cuz once u take ur scrap fabrics/tape off of the sculpture u can cut that into pieces along [cont.]

ur drawn lines and then you'll have your rough pattern pieces, which u can then clean up. there was a good yt video i watched about it from someone on yt, i'll do a quick hunt for it lol

found it, "pattern making with tinfoil" by the puppet nerd. rest in peace to him, he passed away recently... he has a lot of nice and helpful stuff up on his channel still though! he mostly focused on puppet making, but a lot of the techniques can transfer over to doll making too
i haven't studied too much about how official plushie companies do it, i've most osmosised sewing techniques from watching fursuit makers and clothes designers lol :sob: your sculpture doesn't need to be super neat, as long as the rough shapes are right then you'll have a good prototype that you can adjust from there :saluting_face:

ofc!! ^^ the face of ur character looks pretty simple so, that method would work nice. hand embroidery might also be an option since its such a simple face, altho im nor super knowledgable on that front lol
