‘Behold, your King is coming to you,
Lowly, and sitting on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ”
6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. 8 And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’
Hosanna in the highest!” (NKJV)

Revelation 19:11-16
11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

@Captain_64 I can assure that I'm very much a Christian, and I think I know the show you're talking about, but the demons in that show aren't biblical demons
The shows that I watch or the paintings I like don't define whether I'm religious or not, just thought I'd clear that up ^^

Well Mary may have ridden a donkey. The first reference to such a possibility I am aware of is the rather late Gospel of Pseudo-Matthew, (as dinstinct from the actual gospel of Matthew in Scripture). There Mary is riding some type of beast of burden. And this account also includes the first known reference to a donkey and an ox at the manger.

The work itself seems to draw on the likely second century Proto-Gospel of James, but that work does not refer to a donkey.
In any case, these elements became part of the Christmas story tradition.
