me, my mum and little brother went 2 dinner with my mums friend and 2 of her kids
im 15 female and the 2 opposite me are both female and little (dont know exact ages)
i told them both 'kick me and i kick you'
the older one (lets nickname her Maria), sarted lightly kicking me
my feet are undef my chair
i used my foot to tap hers back
we kpt doing this untill Maria started crying and saying i was annoying and stressing her out
i was just minding my business, drawing
so, was i in the wrong

I mean.. if they were like 4-7 yrs old then i probably would understand this kind of annoying behaviour.. but if they r older, then they gotta open their eyes and grow up! Cuz when u meet a stranger, u gotta respect them, not harm them D:
If they r like 7+ yrs old then i'd say that they r VERY uneducated.
In this kind of situation, i think it's best to make urself clear by talking to them, in a way others can hear u. This way, if they keep doing that, u can say u warned them beforehand! ^w^

Let's be honest here, kids always hav been, and always will be little gremlins. I might say especially so now with all the internet brain-rot.
(hot take) personally, I'd say neither of you is in the right, but not really wrong per-say either.
As one who was raised with to older brothers in the 90's, I developed thick skin and high pain tolerance, so I can't speak for you in this matter. I don't know your situation, but I would justify you in defending yourself.
