Yeah apparently sheep are born with long tails but they get cut off because having a long tail makes them prone to infection (In the context of farming)
This has horrible implication for these guys but it also makes sense, because in this universe it's probably just a vanity thing and their parents are extremely vain and also exploitative of their kids.

So they got their tails docked as lambs :(
