actually believe it or not it is... according to the archie comics ( the official story in my opinion where everything melds) he robotocized himself, he has a multitude of bodies, one of them was eggmans body today, and after years of fighting sonic he cracked and took that on as an alias, plus the japanese name for robotnik was in fact eggman
