its a metaphor... u kno like.. lets say u see a house in the distance.. n ur outside n cold.. n the only thing btwn u n the house is a canyon. the warmth so close yet so far. so in this case, its indicating the light n warmth he was in n now hes outside n thats were Gardevoir comes to him
