I am honored to be an inspiration to you here. : ) When I first got Colors3D, @TECHNO-BITS was the artist who inspired me that same way (a fantastic artist by the way, check out that link).
The best tips I can give is to just keep at it. You're a better artist than you credit yourself, and a day will come when you find that out yourself.
One of the things I did here to learn was to download paintings I liked the most, and study the play-back. Watch and learn from the creation process.
