That day, the entire sky lit up with a flash of vibrant red light. It was near-blinding, lasting for a split second before it vanished just as quickly. Countless people were witness to the light, but few gave it much serious thought. Strange things happened in The Yard all the time, after all. But one man not only took notice, but decided to investigate. Luuce was already wandering the sands on his own when the flash happened nearby, striking the ground itself, it demanded his attention. Luuce made his way closer and closer to the site he saw the light touch down, the sand still keeping a faint glow from the power that had struck down only moments ago.
He didn't get very close at first, the overwhelming power and dark nature of the energy stopping him in his tracks. It overwhelmed his senses, he could barely see properly, as if his brain went to static from the forces surrounding him in that moment and a sense of dread consumed his heart. Luuce was usually a very grounded man, but this sense started to fill him with fear, his knuckles going white from gripping his staff so tightly as he fought the urge to panic. But it didn't last, and he regained his mind a moment later. As his vision adjusted and he let out a sharp breath, all traces of the power seemed to vanish, leaving behind a dark figure lying motionless in the sands...
