hey all. i would like to apoligise.
i recived a informative commemt on that teto post i had in my gallery recently
a pal of mine was upset.
they asked me if it was traced and said that i need to give credit to the orginal artists, and if i cant find credit, dont upload it.
i never thought anyone would think i actually drew that by hand. it was very much traced. i put it up cuz i saw it on google and thought it was cute. i just wanted to put it here. i wasnt trying to take credit.
The Colors! Gallery moderators will look at it as soon as possible.

im very sorry if i made it seem like i drew that.
it was traced.
i just wanted to show people a pretty image i found. not to get credit. the credit does not belong to me. i dont know the exact souce. so i took it down. i shouldent have uploaded it. im very sorry.

Hey now, no need to get so bent out of shape. We all learn and grow.
I think I know which drawing you're talking about, and I knew it was traced. But, just as a precaution, you should put up a disclaimer. THAT's the least you can do if you can't find the source. I even put up disclaimers when I copy a drawing entirely, without tracing.
Giving credit isn't always necessary as long as you don't claim the traced image as your own, but it's nice to do so. Of course, there will be people who...

...will disagree with me and say you should always give credit.
But hey, you can't please 'em all, am I right?

There's also people who say you should never trace under any circumstance. So, really, you can't please them all.
I personally don't trace, but I'm not against it as long as you're learning from it, or maybe even if you're changing something about it, like a remix.

@-Shine-
Don't sweat it! The same thing happened to me. Just put it behind you. And I agree, a long as you don't claim it, it's ok!

It is good that you appreciate art that inspires you.
And all artists adopt things that work, but tailoring them to their own work. So even if you don't trace, adopting techniques, concepts, some shape language, color ideas, etc. is still helpful.
The ethical/legal issue comes up because original art belongs to the artist.
But there are images that are designed to be used as reference, and are legal to use for reference.
And drawing from reference is how nearly all good artists become skilled, even if they eventually get to the point they no longer need reference. It can be helpful, even if you don't want a realistic look.
The following has links to reference sources, and some thoughts on using them.
