do jewish people have to celebrate Hanukkah? my grandad is jewish and i have no idea if he does :sob:

@pink127 I'm not Jewish so take this with a grain of salt, but I doubt its a necessity, just something some people choose to celebrate I assume

@pink127 thought I'de explain given I'm Jewish!
If you're a religious Jew (ie you go to synagogue etc.) then Hannukah is quote-on-quote mandatory, as Christmas is for Christians, but a lot of Jews in the world today are cultural Jews (ie you're Jewish by family but don't necessarily believe in God or go to synagogue, etc.) and as a result don't always celebrate Hannukah
Some will even celebrate Hannukah AND Christmas!
