@tall73 Im not sure why I added the blue. I had prepared a more colorful reference, this is an attempt at that :) it was also done as a bit of that grisaile technique but then I noticed it would mess up the dark parts so I left it as is
Ok, a few more thoughts on the grisaelle technique, as it applies to colors.
First off the transparency has to be very high, almost at the bottom of the bar. And it works best with the flat hard round brush, so it introduces no new texture or blurring. It will introduce a bit of sheen also, if you really saturate, and you can back that off with a slightly more grey mix, or exagerate it with heavily saturated tones.
Second, you don't have to apply it to every area with the same strength. So on the dark hair on the one painting I did not apply much tinting, because, as you describe, it can lighten it too much. But also you can use a very transparent eraser to remove some of the already thin later, to both blend it in, and remove it almost--but not completely--from the areas where it needs less.
Also, I did that one in Android, but in Windows you have more options. You can tint the dark and light ares in their own layers, allowing you to use more control. You can start with a much more opaque color, then reducing the layer transparency until it looks right. And then you can still touch it up with the transparent eraser.
@tall73 yes thanks for your comment! There are options you mention that I could've used to enhance it more but I'm satisfied with the result, I didnt want to spend any more time on it. Indeed the Switch and Windows version offer more tricks, like adjustable opacity layers and darken / lighten tool to finalize the image. I also drawn this face on paper a few times to practise the angle, and then the painting became a bit secondary, which also reminded me to do more practising, to become more pragmatic. :)
@mcollins I must respectfully challenge your critique of atmospheric follicular dynamics, my dear friend, as the subject is, in fact, experiencing the rather more predictable effects of gravitational repose upon her tresses! I mean she's flat on the floor , hair does what hair do :P
@CrayJay the beta version of the app had a bug that made a weird format. It is fixed now, and maybe in the future the developer will make 'weird formats' become 'normal' :D
hmm thats sounds bad! @NewUser did you try turning it off and on again? you can join the discord and get more help and there you can send a screenshot of the problem?
So Ima do step by step. 1. I am a full version 2. I made a drawing and saved it 3. I wanted to continue drawing it 4. I press the drawing 5. The drawing doesnt pop upon my screen for me to continue
@Usingthisaccsoon ok thanks for the explanation! the painting you save, should show up in your main screen gallery as a little tumbnail, do you mean when you click the tumbnail , it does nothing? so do you mean, you can't see the screen with the button 'continue painting' ?
your steps should work, maybe try your step again to see if you really do it right? If I could make a guess, maybe you confuse your online profile screen with the normal main menu screen? in the switch menu called 'options' there is a button 'tech-support forum' anything you write there, will be posted in the discord for the team to respond to. we also have a support email address for more personal assistance! good luck, lets hope we can fix it!
@Usingthisaccsoon lol no sorry I dont do zoom! Im sure we can fix it another way. but your problem is very unique, we should ask Jens the developer , lets see if he can suggest a solution... we are in europe so we probably don't respond for the next 12 hours! we will give you a 'bug hunting' batch , if you can record a video of the steps with your phone and send it to support@collectingsmiles.com
@StrawberryVibes ah ok! when I was 13 I also didn't have a phone, but that's because they were not invented yet haa yes I'm old! but maybe you're parents are right because a phone can be a time-waster! :)
