from this new season he seems much more ok with the death games as if something changed. like th watchers made a deal, or threatened him or something and he got more power over the game OR got more influenced by the watchers HMMMMMMM

he's a LOTT more careless this season; most of his deaths were from his overconfidence and overall mostly his fault, which i take as the watchers having a heavier influence on him. This could be because of the end of Secret Life with Scar, since he was stuck there for ages and (my personal hc) soulmates still having that emotional bond having a toll on grian's own mental health and thereforth causing the watchers to focus on nim more

Yeah so basically after the past seasons and his mental heath problems (i hc some stuff from SL) the watchers took that as an opportunity to get in his head and control him more! Trying to pull him away from his friends but slowly so they wouldn't think anything is wrong! Just 'ignoring' mumbo dying or a cold words, yk!!

Yeah yeah yeah !!!! i also think the reason he was a lot less affected by skizz dying was due to the watchers, as they'd been telling him how he didnt need anyone else and stuff after mumbos death in an attempt to sort of forcibly distance him from everyone in an attempt to control him, if that makes sense? There's a lot of psychological warfare happening, and grian's part of a LOT of it.

Ok!! So martyn confirmed that he was pretty much driven to insanity after the end as he was stuck there alone, hitting the succeed button over and over as he kept on getting the task "win secret life." Since he canonically would rather either die or go to a new death game than stay there, I like to think the watchers got involved. Basically they offered a way out, a way to Wildlife, the next game. And that way was to become a watcher himself. He didn't immediately agree, but after what fell like

days, months, YEARS, he couldn't handle it anymore and eventually agreed. The period of time between SL and WL was the time he spent alone, he got sent into WL almost immediately after becoming a watcher. And that's why he remembered so much about the previous seasons, and why his relationship with grian was..the way it was.
