Well to be fair, the Birth of Christ used to be celebrated in early Autumn or so, estimated it celebrated somtime in between September 1st & approximately later than Granparents Day.
Then was moved to later months by corrupt Catholic clergy loyal to the Holy Roman Emperor's thing.
Eventually since all of Europe would reject the idea of celebrating in October, it was moved to the last week November instead, & a popular 'jingle' sung then.
Even in November, at times lifted bans on adultry & booze.

Afterwards Christianity started to be popular among Catholics including the occasional Pope (one officially on record), clergy, and monks.
But Europen cities and fields faced a bigger threat than oppressive religious clergy trying to keep the bible out of the hands of the poor.
Winter Wassaling
at first it was seen as harmless as the poor would burn crops and fields and homes if they weren't given food and alcoholic beverage. They "won't leave until we get some" Christmas moved to Yule solstice

Yuletide holidays, or other celebrations of late winter included influences from Norse, Greek Helios, and Ancient Assyrian myths including Cyrus claiming to be Egypts' Sun deity in order to gain influence over an Egyptian subcontinent abandoned by it's Pharaoh. And a new royal bloodline replaced the old one.

Yule primarily involved a wooden sacrifice, but what may not be known is yule log sacrifice was not always exclusively metaphorical.

Not everything I listed is 100% confirmed, but the attempted replacement of Wassal and arson with Xmas was controversial among Christians and even non religious farmers who didn't want their crops and homes burned, wifes pilaged, and children influenced.

I was literally not allowed to be creative in my first foster home. I was literally punished for listening to my ********* and choosing to have a good dream.
