idk if im 1OO percent interpreting what ur saying right so, pardon me if i get this all wrong, but!! if u think ur method of drawing stuff is bad, it isnt at all!!! my girlfriend actually draws in a very similar way to how you do things for the most part (she has an acc on here if u wanna see her playbacks/art, @/HappyHela), and her art is smth im inspired by and look up to all the time. ur not the only one who draws without like super detailed construction processes, its simply a choice that an artist can make if they find one method easier/enjoyable or harder/frustrating :]
i think ur artstyle is quite cute!! and altho ppl place tons of importance on construction lines n such (and i myself personally use them), they're not always necessary for making great art :>

idk it its how most peeps do art. and i feel my art is not as great as a most people on here.

like i wish i could draw more like Scarlattobrightstar and PineappleChan, cuz they draw people SO well.

the tech told me all art is suppost to be done step by step, even profecinals do it!

but she also said and i quote: "my son is ten years old and he grew out of pokemon ages ago! your 3 years older than him and still want to draw it!" ..

at thirteen i was very easly infuenced. like the 'adults know better cuz lived longer and are more experienced' sorta thing. i mean, she has her own art company! i thought i should follow how she was trying to teach me. it was her lessons after all. and i wanted to learn.

oof i see, im really sorry to hear all that :( honestly art tutors shouldn't be discouraging you against drawing what you want to draw, like i think its fine for them to offer advice in the vein of "don't JUST draw (x thing), draw other things too along with it!" but if they straightup tell you "no that's bad to draw" then they're... kinda just wrong imo??? :skull:
cuz ive found myself improving the most in my art when im drawing stuff im super passionate for and really want to draw. cuz rn ive been fixated on "the invisible man" by hg wells and bc the characters are all human, its been forcing me to learn how to draw faces and bodies better and its helped me develop my own artstyle a ton over this past year

but anyway, im sorry ur art tutor did that :( especially when u were younger, they shouldve been way more encouraging

but like i said, step-by-step IS kind of the "standard", its what most places do teach professionally and i find it does help me keep -- (cont.)

my art a bit consistent. however it isnt the end-all-be-all for art, my gf draws with the "straight-away"/constructionless style you draw in and another artist on here @/corndog (inactive now) does the same thing too iirc. if u enjoy/prefer drawing constructionless then dont let what others say stop you!! at the end of the day, if ur not going into the professional industry then art should be fun :'3

i do understand the whole style envy thing too, its smth that can be kinda hard to shake and even now i still tend to get it. over time i've managed to turn it into a different and more healthier mindset, where now when i see cool artists i usually get inspired to draw smth of my own rather than feeling down. comparison is an artist's worst enemy if ur not careful abt it, it can be helpful to see how other ppl draw things like hands or smth but if u do it too much you'll just make everthing unfun :pensive:

honestly if theres specific artsyles you aspire towards then it doesnt hurt --

to try and copy them? not trace, but copy what you see and try to figure out how an artist did smth. its like using reference. for example, i started out copying the artstyle of the kirby series and altho my art has progressed far beyond my beginner style, i think you can still see hints of it in my work here and there. a lotta ppl think copying is bad (and it can be if you ONLY copy, and dont experiment much) but, most professionals prolly started out copying what they saw around them and getting inspiration. hell, realism is just copying the forms you see in real life and rendering them out on canvas or digitally lol

good grief u said u ranted but now im ranting even more lol whoops :sob: but yeah i hope that all made sense, it can take a long time to get over hating ur own art but its def possible to turn ur brain around and feel better, it took me years but i managed to do it

2ds aside from just doing art, ive been doing more reading lately actually lol. i have been gaming on my switch tho, playing a game called "in stars and time" and ourughhh. holy sh/t. its such a good game, its an rpg abt a team of five ppl tryna stop this guy called the king from freezing the whole world in time, and the main character suddenly discovers he has the power to time loop, so he starts using it to solve problems he cant otherwise do on his own. the artstyle is super good and the battle mechanics are super unique, and the character writing??? ITS ALL SO GOOD
ahem anyway :3 so yeah i havent been playing too many games lately, but what i am playing im def enjoying lol. those romhacks sound fun, maybe ill check em out sonetime!! :eyes:

ive looked into it myswlf and it seems that the easiest/most guaranteed way to get relay to activate is to reset ur console's RTC (real time clock)... the only method ive found for doing that involves taking the console's battery out and then putting it back in, because the RTC is tied to the battery it will reset to january 1st 2011 when u do this and that will usually make--

relay activate. nor rlly sure WHY relay is tied to the RTC but it works, unfortunately tho im using a nintendo 2ds xl and its rlly hard to get to the battery on this thing :( taking the back cover off involves prying it up rather than unscrewing, and once u do that u need to unplug several othr things before u can finally reach the battery... and then the battery has a super strong adhesive holding it in place... yeah um :sob: i think i may just skip out on relay lmao i dont wanna break smth--

im not super sure if i /can/ get qr codes, ill try to see about it but if i cant then ill still try to get you some patched rom cias that you could install using fbi's SD card .cia installer :p it would require taking ur sd card out and using an sd card reader to get the files on ur system but its still doable like that

i use this thing RTChanger
it bypasses timegates. so daily things ig can be done repeatedly. you can change day month year time and i use it constantly. maybe that can be good for streetpass rally? i set clock back a few month sometimes and just keep going a day forward and do daily stuff repeatedly.
i got a weeks worth of stuff done in maybe 10 irl minute? maybe fiveteen?

yeye!! if ur curious the game i was patching is mario party advance. despite its name, it isnt rlly a stereotypical mario game? its like, a wacky little rpg with party game elements and lots of fetch quests lol. specifically i romhacked it w/ a patch someone made called "mario's carnival quest", which just fixes some rlly glaring gameplay balance issues and a few small bugs. its got some super charming and silly writing that u dont rlly see a lot in mario games outside of the mario & luigi rpgs :p but it was completely panned critically bc of very poor gameplay design, the basegame has a lot of issues that can make it rlly annoying to play for more than a few minutes at a time

alrighty, glad we got that all worked out :] again itll all have to wait til tomorrow to start testing and getting stuff working since i cant be on my computer rn, in theory it should all be pretty--

simple to do. and im glad to help out, ur pretty chill and plus its kinda just a fun process for me to tinker and work through technical stuff lol, doing romhack patching and seeing everything come together as playable on ur actual console is rlly cool and i enjoy watching videos abt folks making custom content in the general vein of romhacking. since ur interested in gba pokemon romhacks/custom content, i recommend the channel "im a blisy" on yt, they've made tons of custom events for the og gen 3 games and go in-depth into their processes for it, and events are all completely playable on og physical hardware if u have the right stuff!! and in theory u may be able to patch them into digital gba games too, altho i think itd be a fairly cumbersome process that i havent seen anyone do yet outside of emulator stuff

also typo correction on my part, * stereotypical mario party game. specifying "mario party" is important in that sentence lmao

but not all gba qr codes ive scaned have been from archive.
for example Emearld Seaglass qr code works fine, as i scaned it earlyer today it seems the small qr codes pattern work? but bigger ones not always?
idk if they bigger cuz they from archive or just how they created. hmm

i have of heard that mario game so thats so cool that you did that.

im guessing u prolly know how to copy and paste in the 3ds browsers but if not, you need to tap and hold on the text and then it should highlight that its copying ur text, then u just drag ur stylus til u reach the end of ur text and then hit copy. then u can just open up a new tab and paste it in, if u miss a couple letters or smth at the start and end then just retype them. if u find this post is too laggy for ur browser i can also paste these into another post of urs on here :p hope these work, if theres any problems lemme know

thats odd though, the links and colors definitely worked for me when i did it. did you try to go to your page in colors 3d via entering your account settings and clicking the "visit my gallery at colorslive.com" button? that should take you right to your page and then you can scroll down to your painting, that's how i did it while testing if it would work on my end, since i went onto my own page and commented on a painting of mine. i could also try putting my links on a different post if that might help

cuz ik copy and pasting it directly definitely worked to bring the image up in browser on my new 2ds xl so, there's absolutely no reason it shouldnt have worked :pensive:

Remember: YOUR art is YOUR art, it's IMPOSSIBLE to "draw the wrong way" or however you want to word it. Example: If you draw step by step, that's great!! If you don't draw step by step, that's perfectly fine!! That's great, too!! ^u^ :thumbsup:

If you want a bit of advice + encouragement, just know that you're NOT "drawing the wrong way," since there's no rules/requirments when it comes to drawing. :) <3
