There’s just never enough time in one lifetime, or even a dozen, to get everything done you want to do. But what if you had unlimited lifetimes? Well that doesn’t help too much if you can’t pick up a brush. I’d turn into a wraith for sure. Yesterday’s hint was “Don’t ruin your good bedsheets, just leave before finishing everything you meant to do.”
The answer? Ghosts

I don't know Mazie outside of their Spooktober entries, and they have been given no special treatment.

I don't feel it is right to not allow someone to guess. I love attempting to answer riddles; it makes me happy. I'm sorry if I'm upsetting people, but it makes me sad to feel as if I'm not allowed, and unwelcome to answer.
I feel EVERYONE should be able to have a chance to answer the fun riddles
A solution, if I may suggest, is to maybe have a form to submit your daily answer (for the riddle of the day). That way everyone has an equal chance to answer on there without being able to see guesses

plus, with the form, everyone who guesses right could get a point. It would be fair because no one (other than the host, or judge/judges) would be able to see the submitted guesses.
So everyone else wouldn't know if they had the correct answer until it was announced in the next day's post.

I understand what your point is, but there are people here on Colors that don't have any other devices to go on the internet with for a plethora of reasons, in the comments everyone does have a chance to comment their guesses even if it is the same as others

So it's probably obvious that I think it's good when people are enthusiastic about the challenge. I also want everyone to have a chance to participate, and I notice that whoever sees the riddle first has a lot of advantage. I'm not sure what the best solution here is.
I see the logic of the form solution, but I think part of the fun is being able to see each other guess in the open. I also agree with Artic that going off-site is not an option for some people.
Adding a cooldown seems like penalizing people for guessing correctly.
Another option that has been suggested in the past is to change the posting time from Midnight PST to another time that's easier for people both in the USA and Europe to participate in, so there's more chance of other people getting there first.
Another one is to just give everyone who got it right a point, or even stop doing points entirely for the riddles.

I am kinda at a disadvantage because I'm usually asleep at that time while other people are awake (how do people function sleeping past midnight??) so changing the time of post might be better for a lot of people

Then it might help solve the issues by giving everyone a point for having the correct riddle answer (no matter what time they reply)- as long as it is BEFORE the next day's post. That way everyone can voice their answer for the riddle.
HOWEVER, maybe to help make it more fair, only one individual guess per person. If no correct answers were submitted before the next day's posting, then everyone could have a second guess (BEFORE the next day's posting).
