random but ive always headcannoned that skywings have black/dark colors around their eyes to help deflect sunlight or whatever. same with sandwings, icewings, and hivewings
also im really inti phylogenetic trees and imagine that skywings, rainwings, and leafwings are all related somehow so. ya
