When I took a painting class in High School, the instructor placed a basket full of plastic fruit in the center of the studio, and all of us students were to paint the basket from our point of view. It's a very great way to learn how to do painting, even digital.
Just pace (or take a picture of) some object you'd like to draw, on a table, then just have a go at it.
