now, everyone who knows about poko knows about their ship of toby x genji... and how they absolutely mishandled the two characters, especially toby. as someone who is nonbinary and shares a similar bodytype to how they portrayed toby (noticeable hips/thighs), what they did was absolutely disgusting. however, before things got as bad as they were, i absolutely loved the idea of the ship, and poko's art is what resparked my love for animal crossing during a time where i feel like i needed something like that, as i had been pretty burnt out of the franchise beforehand. and with all the support poko used to have, i am sure other people feel the same.

to cut to the chase (i have a bad habit of rambling)... i know a lot of people's interpretation of toby and genji has been ruined. i still have a soft spot for them personally, and my own headcanons for them, so; do you guys think it would be okay to make a toby x genji comic?

my idea for it would be as a way to try and portray the characters in a more positive light, to try and help make something new and fun for the two of them to help dispell the negativity around the two characters, as at the end of the day they are just Two Little Guys:tm: from animal crossing. the tldr of the plot is that toby graduates from college, moves to a town inspired by ACNL's plot, and gets a job at The Roost, and it would be a slice-of-life style kind of comic exploring his everyday life as he makes friends and tries to live out his dreams, with genji eventually becoming an important part of his life as the two try to start a band together.

the main reason i want to ask before just /doing it/ is that i worry making this kind of comic may be insensitive towards the people who have been hurt by poko's actions; i worry it would come off as milking the drama for attention, or perhaps seen as "fixing" poko's art, which i do not want to do.

i wouldn't want to make something that wears the face of an abuser and parades it around as a constant reminder of their bad deeds, as i myself have had some things ruined for me via bad experiences with people in my life.
i want to make something that can be positive and fun, but considering everything that's happened and the weight of it all, and the fact i myself have been almost entirely uninvolved in it all, i want to handle things carefully and treat such a thing with the respect it needs.

so; when i come off break, i'd like to make this, but i want to know what all of you think. is it okay? if yes, why, and if no, why not? i really don't wish to cause any harm with this idea, and if this post/idea is generally taken as upsetting and wrong then i will gladly take it down and forget about the idea

Awww, your idea of a comic sounds adorable, and I support the idea whole heartedly!

First, I'll explain my background with Pokopin. I also felt neutral towards them, but knew something was off around the time you started your break. I gave them a second chance, only to cut off contact with them after seeing them post a... very triggering and insensitive drawing...
With that out of the way, it would be very refreshing to see GenToby handled less... sexually. The slice-of-life aspect sounds especially refreshing. It gives a brand new, wholesome approach to the ship instead of the raunchy way Pokopin warped it.

It almost feels like looking at GenToby from a new perspective, rather than an 'improvement,' since your idea is very different compared to Poko's. And at this point, thats probably just the thing for those who feel like Toby has been "ruined" for them.

Tldr; just don't overexaggerate Toby's thighs and you'll be fine, lol

im 99 percent sure you're poko... if you are, then this comic is NOT for you, and i don't want you in my comments; but i won't block you just in case you're not poko and can prove undeniably that you're not poko. i don't hate you or anything, but i am incredibly disappointed in all of your recent behavior, especially with how you continue to stay on colors despite saying you would take a break, especially with making tons of accounts, trying to assume fake identities, and stalking people. i've seen some of the awful bulls//t you've said to people on the LAB_01 account, ranging from petty little comments about the quality of people's art or pointing out typos to straightup laughing at someone possibly struggling with an ED and telling them to commit s///ide. i do believe people can change, and i was sympathetic for you at one point, but it seems clear to me that you do not want to seek change and are holding on to everything that's happened with a burning grudge, when everyone--

simply just wants to move on with their lives. wouldn't all of that hurt horribly if it was directed to you by someone else? you've gone on and on to others about how you have done nothing wrong in this situation, and i do imagine it is quite stressful; to have everyone in a whole community turn on you, for stuff that you don't seem to think is wrong. the way i see it is, if all of my friends and everyone around me were telling me i'd done something wrong, even if i thought it was innocuous, i would try to at least sit for a little bit and reflect on it. try to look at it and assume a perspective from outside of my own mind.
either way, people here are not going to forgive and forget all of the things you have done, not for years and years, perhaps even /ever/, especially when you keep stoking the fire; and you have to realize that. people here don't want you anymore, and i imagine it hurts to hear that, but it is true. you need to go elsewhere and try to improve yourself. --

i don't know how old you are, but to me you seem fairly young; and i've made mistakes when i was young too, and even when i was older, and i've had to learn from them. everyone makes mistakes. and i believe pretty much everyone can grow and change for the better. but for now, i will not forgive you for the things you have done, both because it is not my place to (as i was directly hurt very little by you) and because you clearly do not want to change. your actions have extended past well-meaning mistakes and become malicious acts of aggression and hate for others around you.

leave colors. reflect. stop trying to contact anyone on here associated with this whole mess. stop trying to twist the situation to victimize yourself. i still feel sympathy for some of the things you have went through, but i will not let that sympathy distort the truth of the awful things you have done.

some headcanons--not a full extensive list, just some of them :p
- genji and toby are both transmasc, and are at different points in their transition. they help support each other through it :]
- genji is mentioned in his old e-reader card that he goes jogging a lot with another villager named aziz; since aziz hasnt been in animal crossing ever since the og game, my idea is that they were childhood besties up until genji and his family moved away to somewhere else, where eventually they lost contact with each other :broken_heart:
- genji has an adoptive younger sister, the villager pekoe! the two of them live together in present day
- toby and the other sanrio villagers are all kind of in a friend group together, he met most of them through high school and college, but after graduating they all move elsewhere and go long distance instead. still close friends! just not as easy to contact and arrange meetups n all that

- genji can play the guitar, aziz is the one who taught him how
- toby loves the outdoors... in theory. in execution he's freaked out by all the bugs and critters outside :broken_heart: he'll admire them from a distance but doesn't want to actually touch or even get near most of them
- genji doesnt know a damn thing abt romancing and cannot flirt for the life of him, nor recognize flirts very well :sob: if he realizes he's being flirted with he just melts into mush. and toby can flirt fairly affectively but it goes over genji's head a lot until they know each other better. toby also melts into mush if flirted with. the best way to describe these two is "idiots in love" i think lmao

i love animal crossing characters and i think we need more animal crossing art in genaral here. i only know 2 artists who do animal crossing art here being meganekko and loaf of bread id love to see more.

and for people who knew about the poko situation, they may start to like the them again after seeing some wholesome art.
so that way they wont be associated in a negatve light. your can wash away the bad with good!

I am absolutely not involved in any way, but as someone who despises a character and a similar theme as Poko's characterization of toby (thanks to ptsd), i do really think a refreshing twist on their characters would be really nice to see. It really comes down to how those affected feel truly since after seeing Poko in action the ship is latched onto their name like a parasite, but it is an interesting concept regardless.
