In light of your post earlier about feeling guilty about not being Christian enough, I have a thought that Id like to present to you which I think might help you with your mental health. I should give a quick caveat that some of this might go contrary to the paradigm you've been taught in Bible school, but I believe that having a correct understanding of the nature and being of God, and your relationship with Him, will help boost your confidence in yourself and in God's plan.

I'm posting here because I think it would be relevant to how you presented your feeling in this post, and I prefer this to be a little bit lo-key and personal to you and your needs. Let me know if you are interested, and we can begin an open discussion regarding a few things that were once taught throughout Christianity, but have over time been changed, discarded, or forgotten. Believe it or not, there's a lot to God's plan that aren't being taught in any curriculum any more.

It'll likely be done little by little over the course of several days, which will give you time to think and pray about it, but if it will pique your interest, I'd like you to start by reading Psalm 16:9-11 (paying particular attention to verse 10).

@The_Adjudicator ok

I the Psalm verses I presented above, we see the shining hope of those who lived long before the ministry of Jesus, looking forward to the day He would come to "preach deliverance to the captives" and "set at liberty, them that are bruised" (see Isaiah 61:1-2, see also Luke 4:18-19). There are some circles of Christianity which still teach that salvation was promised to those who lived before His ministry, but not all do.

There is a parable someone taught me that got me thinking about things:

The parable is called "the road map", and goes like this:

Someone, traveling to a distant region, was told how to get there, and provided with a road map in case needed, but promised that the directions told before were sufficient.
Along the way, the traveler stopped at a station to refresh.
The attendant asked; "Where are you from?"
The traveler told him where.
Attendant; "Where are you going?"
Again, the traveler told.
Attendant; you're quite far off track aren't you?"
(Continued)..

...(Continuing)
The attendant then asked if the traveler has a road map.
"I do." said the traveler.
"Let me see it for a moment." said the attendant.
The attendant then showed where they were on the map, and the road needed to get to where the traveler was going, and presented evidence that the traveler was far off track, despite following the direction given previously.

End of parable.

So the question I'd like you first to ponder is this: When presented with conflicting information, what should you do to keep yourself on the correct path?

@The_Adjudicator idk?

I'll be back again tomorrow night to continue this, but I believe the best advice I have been given is to: study it out, ponder it in your heart, and ask God in prayer for wisdom concerning the matter (see James 1:5-6)
Have you heard this comparison between knowledge and wisdom?: "-Knowledge- is knowing that tomatoes are fruit. -Wisdom- is knowing that you don't put tomatoes in a fruit salad."

The first thought I would like to present is at the beginning, or genesis of the human race as presented in the Bible. When God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, He also placed there with them two other peculiar trees: The Tree of Life, and The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (AKA, the forbidden fruit).

What can we learn about our relationship with God from this passage?
Allow me to present my own thoughts and beliefs on the matter:

What if I told you that I'm convinced that the fall of man was not only part of God's plan from before the beginning, but rather it is the hinge on which the plan would swing into action.

Let's think about this for a bit shall we?
Why did God place the "forbidden fruit" in there with them in the first place?
How long did He intend to leave them there where they'd be tempted by it day-in and day-out?
How many generations would have passed before someone gave in?

The_Adjudicator

@SoggyBread9910
Is there any evidence to support my thesis that the fall was part of the plan? Yes. As a matter of fact, there is. The firs of these for you to study is found in 1 Peter: 18-20.
This is the next thought and questions I'd like you to ponder tonight:
Why was Jesus "prepared before the foundations of the world"?
Was He prepared as the back-up plan (in case something went wrong)?, or is He -the- plan?

Looking back at this, I forgot to mention that you are free to share your thoughts/insites/rebuttals or anything else that comes to your mind, anything you believe, and/or are taught in your Bible study is welcome. I'm sure you could bring some good points to my attention that could add to the narative.

There's a couple more points I'd like to get to, but I dont want you to feel overwhelmed, so I'll wait to hear from you when you're ready for the next point in this thought experiment.
