Sure.
Firstly, the only "failure" is if you give up. It doesn't matter that it didn't turn out perfect after one or two.. or even ten tries for that matter. What matters is that you gave it a try, you learned something about yourself, and you know you can do better.

Secondly, this doesn't look bad at all. In fact it looks great. The only difference between "realism", and "photo/hyper realism" is the attention to fine details. It doesn't need to look perfect to be real(ism).

Thirdly, if you enjoy making this type of art, then by all means keep at it. Over time, you'll tune your eyes to see the finer details, you'll learn how to make them appear more real, and just through experimental means you may try something that sounds like it just might work, and from there, something will just click into place. You'll get one of those "Ah ha!" moments, and learn something about yourself.

And lastly, don't be hard on yourself. -Never be hard on yourself.- If you see a toddler trying to walk for the first time, and that kid bumbles down, that does not mean the kid will never learn to walk. It takes time and prctice, as well as getting yourself used to challenge of doing something new. Have patience with yourself. You're already doing wonderfully well. Aside from trying to add in the finer details, I can't think of anyway to improve on this.
