The king is slow because he is weighed weighed down by the piece of bread he wears. It is definitely bread.
Rooks have got to be the most terrifying piece, I mean, a literal brick tower FLYING across the battle field to crush you.
Bishops are half crab, which is why they move diagonally.
Knights are floating horse heads with untold power.
The queen... The best I can say would be Captain Marvel.
She is somehow able to move way too far, way too fast.

Yeah...
Poor little peasants.
The villagers who are only able to walk forwards, but can only attack diagonally because their peripheral vision is the best compared to the rest of their vision.

If they walk into enemy camp though, they get promoted to royalty, so that's worth dying for.
