Despite having silver tear-drop scales, he did not hatch on a full moon. He almost hatched on two full moons, but both of those "full moons" weren't actually full. They just looked compleatly full.

Because of this, BlackBeary doesn't have mind reading or prophecy seeing, but he will do anything to get those powers.
