Homer, Odyssey Book XII: "[After Odysseus' ship had left the island of Thrinakie, Zeus sent a storm to wash it into the maw of Kharybdis] The raging west wind abated, but the south instead came at once to plague me [Odysseus], forcing me to retrace my track towards pitiless Kharybdis."
