Fury Released!! - Zero Awakens! by LooneyWizard
My personal take on an alternate X4 storyline for Zero where a reborn Agile nearly kìlls Iris, and insults her, calling her a weak, waste of space, causing Zero to explode with rage and briefly achieve his Awakened state. Let's just say Agile regrets his life choices as he's ripped apart limb from limb in one of the most overkill moments in my 'What If' scenarios.

Agreed, this though was also the prelude to the Awakened Zero boss fight in X5, if you go with X.

And yes, I would make it so you could have some choice of what route you went down, instead of it being by chance. X vs Zero would change depending on success or failure: If successful, you can choose to be X or Zero for the final stages, in which their fight goes as in canon mostly, If you pick X, you'll still face Awakened Zero, but this time he's still himself. Failure leads to you being locked out of Zero and for the fight he's lost himself to the power of his Awakened state.

If you pick Zero if you're successful, you'll go up against Ultimate Armor X.
