Okay, so I'm getting Pokemon Black 2 in a few weeks, but I don't own B/W (1?). Do I need to play them before I play the sequels, or are B/W 2 stand alones?

Technically they're stand-alones, but In order to get the main plot, I suggest you play the first ones beforehand.
