They're one of my favorite book series, and they all revolve around original mythical creatures!
(First book synopsis)
Herbie is the Lost And Founder in the Grand Nautilus Hotel and he's on a mission to find Violet's parents, whos disappearance seems to be connected to a creature of local legend, THE MALAMANDER!!!
There's also a talking cat, a mechanical mermonkey and more secrets to be uncovered!

Also I think Violet and Herbie are named after sweets?? Y'now Parma Violets and Sherbert Lemons?? Idk it's my own conclusion :p

i have erwin as a lil illustration by the author/illustrator which is cool since thomas taylor made the cover for HP (harry potter)
im so glad the malamander survived :sob: i think its cute

i think you're right w/ the naming after sweets though, its quite recognisible
