Can't you reserect him back or does not removing the sin not allow that? (I haven't played enoughof the new update to see if possible)

@Bloopy_Doop i dont really understand it but i think once you've gotten too much sin from a follower they become da.mned, and then u have to **** them on a crusade
then u cant ressurect them which sux.

You can reserect them back to life if you got the ability. If not, progressing more into the game allows you to bring them back
