Actually yes.

A little while Abyss and Nebula left Mobius for space due to their godly duties, Emerald tried to fly up there and failed every time. Abyss had to leave Emerald behind and she started missing him. So that's why she tried. Cyber or someone with the ability to always had to catch her before she fell all the way back down, cold from the ice.

Sad but true.
