This fight took place nearly a decade and a half ago. And to the degree possible I will try to recall the particulars of that mismatched melee.
The two fought several duals, an impromptu showdown in the middle of a day of larger battles.
One is immediately struck by the height of the closest combatant who stands head and shoulders above the other, with the resulting reach advantage that goes with such stature. He measured 6'10", and weighed around 350 pounds. The armor would have added another 30.
But that is not the only physical advantage at play. The smaller of the two was the quicker, more agile fighter.
The taller combatant took an unusual forward posture, more upright than the stance of most fighters.
This was to allow for his favorite tactic, known to the others present, of using a wrapping shot, snapping forward his arm, with the bicep pointed downward, arcing the forearm over the shoulder of the opponent, striking the back with the top most edge of the blade. The wide stance allowed for swings from different angles over the shield of the opponent.
This also accounted for the high, defensively-minded, guard of the smaller opponent. who stood ready to brush aside these over-the-top strikes with the his own blade, to augment the protection of the shield.
The smaller fighter would wait for openings, then respond with a quick strike straight forward with the point of the sword into the faceplate of the opponent, quick as an adder.

They fought several rounds, and while both delivered would-be-fatal blows to the other, in the final tally quickness bested size. The smaller fighter had been the best of the group that year, and the trend continued that day.

@Madwurmz yes, it did, at a live armor fighting event. Incidentally, the larger combatant, who came out on the worst end of things, is my brother.
