Darn it this happens every time. My second guess would be a scarecrow because of the book "The Scarecrow walks at Midnight" also I really thought I had that last riddle.

I feel it also could maybe be a "puppet" though....like the ones from Goosebumps.

By puppet, I mean like "Slappy" (I think that was its name) from Goosebumps. I remember it being called a "dummy", so maybe "puppet" isn't the right term.
