Okay, lets answer the most important question first: why Eva? Well, its pretty easy to see that the boss name and design in supposed to parody Eva, for example: the suit Gregory wears, the mecha design for Freddy emulating an Eva, HECK even the fact that the scenery in Scott’s final battle resembles Shinji’s Eva with the 02 and all! Its kind of a no brainer that Eva seems to be a recurring theme in here!

Second question: why is it important? Well… that’s kind of hard to explain… like I said I have limited knowledge in NGE and most of it is second hand, so I’m currently educating myself in the matter. But from what I do know… as soon as you start looking you can see the similarities between them! Robots, children being forced inside robots, haunted robots, liquid made of human souls, parental figures willing to kill children for their own selfish purposes and much MUCH more!

So, the third and last question [for now] why does it matter for Gregory? Well, the way the game portrays Gregory is as an EVA-pilot [well in his case FAZ-pilot lol] so its easy to assume that Scott is comparing him to one of the children who use the Eva’s, I’m assuming it’s Asuka our Shinji for now, that said why did he do that? I would assume is because he is trying to hint at Gregory’s backstory by comparing him to them and to ultimately clear up confusion surrounding this character in his entirety. [also to suggest Freddy is haunted by a family member of his]
