I really love his use of muted colors:)) Him and John Stewart Curry's use of harsh edges and strategic gradients along with the sort of low chroma, dark in value colors with the sparing use of light valued colors really serve to create a certain harsh lighting vibe that I quite like. If you're into the all American vibe of Wood's paintings, I suggest you check out Wayne Thiebaud, if you don't already know him. He's from a different era, but I tell everybody about him because he's my favorite painter of all time lol
@puripuddin I'll have to check him out! I really do like the tones Wood used in his paintings, to me it helped create a calm and idle mood, and I could look at them for hours lol
The usage of different hues of the same color is another thing I see in Wood's style a lot. I remember for art class we did a study of his paintings and we got to try painting using similar technique. It opened my eyes more to the world of art
