Interesting. My dreams typically fade away seconds after I wake up. The only thing I can remember by the time my head is off the pillow is that there was a dream that night.
That being said, I have had some very vivid dreams that I can still remember today.. And they're very personal to me..

@The_Adjudicator hmm, i remember one that i had when i was like 3 years old, i can remember every detail, ill prove it
so i was sleeping and suddenly a giant green hand came through the ground and grabbed me and started trying to pull me through the carpet, i was screaming for my parents to wake up but they never woke up, no matter how hard i tried getting them to wake up they stayed asleep, and i was like 3 when i dreams that

and im 13 now, so that was 10 years ago...weird

had a dream when i was six that still scares me eight years later...

i was getting up -prob in the morning-
i shared a room w/some one so there were two beds, my 'room mate' wasn't there, so i was alone,
as i walked to the door, a strange feeling came over me, i was in a rush to leave the room, i tried very hard to open the door, but it was stuck-
just as i started to cry and scream for my parents, i felt some one breathing down my neck, turning around- there was a faceless mannequin -con-

the old, fabric kind, kinda like a doll,
the 'manniquin doll' started to hum- a song i can still remember
trying to get close to me, i scratched at it's face- or where it's face should have been, screaming,
but there was nothing i could do-

i woke up-- and i've had that dream several times, with slight changes--
