Pain wakes up in the real world and looks down to see Emerald sleeping. Then he lifts her hair to the side to see her eye.

Pain: (sighs, thinks) I won't let anyone hurt you, I promise.

He then looks around to see Nebula peeking around the corner with a wide smile, and when he blinked, she was gone.

Pain: (shivers, thinks) Tch, she better stay away.

Pain keeps watch the rest of the night making sure Nebula, or whatever she was, wasn't going to hurt Emerald anymore.
