Indonesia announced its independence on August 17, 1945. During month of August we've some tradition to celebrated it; raising flags everywhere, houses, schools, office buildings, and so on. Carnival dressing with traditional ethnic costumes. Having completion/traditional games like rice sacks race, palm tree climbs, and many more.

I think it's great that your Country holds to some fun Independance day traditions. I hope it stays that way. Sadly there is some polarization in the USA regarding the history of our Nation. For the most part, people here still celebrate it with Fireworks, barbeques, and family gatherings, but there are some few diseffected by Critical Theory and "wokeness". But that's a different discussion altogether.
With interest in your history, I might have to look up and research Indonesia history just to know for myself. I'm sure you'd love to share more, and I'd be happy to learn more.

@The_Adjudicator Indonesia had colonized by some European countries for centuries (350years) and Japan. America was an ally back then, (related to Pearl Harbour attack). Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing was a crucial/big momentum for Indonesia to declares our own independence.

I see. It's interesting to see different perspectives on the Hiroshima and Nagasaki attacks, and the effect it had around the world. From my school days, we talked about it as an event that changed the direction of the war with a -learn from the past- junction (that is to say, weapons of mass destruction are not seen in a positive light). In my Japanese class, we came to a point where we studied the war from Japan's perspective, ending that by watching the animated movie ~Grave of the Fireflies~
I had never heard of Indonesia taking action at that time. Thanks for sharing.

It's interesting, the more I study this, how things have gone full circle in an upward spiral of sorts, where Japan was once an enemy, but is now a friend, being humbled through terrible tragedy.
I'm reminded of the lyrics to a song titled ~It has to be this way~ which goes like this:
"I carved my own path, you followed your wrath, but maybe we're both the same. The world is churned, so many have burned, but nobody is to blame. It's tearing across this baren wasted land, I feel new life will be born beneath the blood-stained sand."

@The_Adjudicator actually that's what i want to told you yesterday, but maybe it would be too far and long to write.
Apparently, in Japan (from what i learnt from anime, variety show, movie, etc) they don't much study about that in class, it's like dark history for them, they like to just move on. If it's history subject they'll study about Edo era (Oda Nobunaga and so on).
Even many people in Japan didn't know about Indonesia was colonized by them back then. And when they told about that, they'll apologize immediately. Yea we've became friends now, in opposite, america being flagged. We're still friends but many issues seems (suspiciously ) caused by them. Like case in Papua gold mine(owning by american company), there's group of radical organization who want to separate from Indonesia. They have killed some local police/soldiers too. The weapons suppliers is unknown,..you guess it. And for international case, Palestine is like our brother(Moslems brothers), but America in the opposition right?

I think the majotity of USA citizens are completely unaware of political scandals and involvement in foreign countires. Every now and then, there'll be some news about politicans doing some secret scandal involving foreign affairs. I would not be surprised if someone was supplying those factions with weapons. I'm sorry about those tragedies.
Personally, I, and a lot of people I know look at Muslims and friends and neighbors. I know a few, and have been through school with some. Unfortunately, I'm sad to say there is still an ongoing conflict with these good people, inside and out of the States.
This is one of the reasons I find it difficult to be patriotic at times.
