It is not a masculine urge to bite people, but biting for invading territory or personal space is common. And lower than "biting" is mouthing where you put your mouth (and usually teeth) on someone shows trust/acceptance of dominance/acceptance as the person/animal allows themselves to be put in danger of injury of the mouther. As for people being squishy, that is only the stored energy of fat. When you get to muscle, you have a LOT of chewing and gritting of teeth to cut through muscle fibers ~

As some one who has been both slashed and pierced, slashing hurts much with less damage while piercing hurts less with more damage. At least serious damage. Smashing to the point of losing a piece hurts the most and could be the most damaging, but for it to get to a bone or vital would take insane amounts more force than the other two.
