The birthstone Garnet was decided to be the red version. Opals range from light pink to purple.

She was traveling with her family when suddenly they heard someone coming and dispersed in many different directions. She couldn't find her way back so she had to search for them through guesses and slight hunches. While searching she was hit with the Chaos Virus which changed her into an opal. She took refuge in a random cave where she found a Pichu that looks like it was hit with the same Chaos Virus. Pichu had been abandoned by her clan because she was too different from everyone else. Opal decided to ask the Pichu if it would like to help her find her family and Pichu accepted. They ran into Hunter Jay and bolted back to the cave. Jay tried to follow them but Opal and Pichu escaped. Hunter Jay left and Opal and Pichu went back to searching. Turns out that Jay had captured Opal's family. She knew this because she saw them in the back of a truck that left with Jay. She and Pichu are looking for a partner to help them get Opal's family back and give Pichu a new home.
