He, like Aqua and the others, has been hit with a Chaos Virus turning him into emerald. He was separated from his family due to being hunted down by Hunter Jay because of his rare appearance. He blended into a bush to hide from her. Hunter Jay had left, he was relieved at the sight of that. Emerald tried searching for his family, he instead finds Sakura. Sakura gave him some food and he gladly ate it. She was happy to see that he enjoyed the meal. Emerald started to follow her around so Sakura decided to make him her partner to help her save people and poke'chao alike. (That's Emerald's story.)
