Another idea! certain characters like Tails, Shadow, and even all of Team Frost (including Abyss) have been roboticized and beating them would free their souls from being controlled and would turn them back to normal with the blink of an eye. Though defeating them won't be easy, there's lots of them, all extremely dangerous, but only one that will protect, Abyss. He'll guard anyone who is unfortunate enough to come across the fortress, especially Nebula.
