How did they break?

@NyxStarbright Oof, that's a long story... But I'll do my best to explain! Unless you don't want spoliers..

(SPOILER WARNING)

Ok, so Lorule is a world that mirrors Hyrule. The princess of Lorule is Hilda, the character in the bottom right corner ^
So, way before the time that the game takes place, there was a war raging over Lorule's Triforce (imagine that) . And so Hilda's ancestors completely destroyed the Triforce, hoping and thinking that doing so would stop the war. However, that plan backfired, and Lorule was plunged into decay, evil, and misery. Monsters were everywhere. The land crumbled apart, leaving gaping abysses everywhere, and without the Triforce, the kingdom basically fell, and the people's minds turned corrupt, thinking that monsters would save them.
Fast foward to when the game takes place, and Lorule is still in that state.

Yes, I agree! When I first found out about it, I was thinking "Did they really think destroying the Triforce would work?"

Are the pieces of the Triforce just as powerful in Lorule as they are in Hyrule?

Do they stand for the same things?

@NyxStarbright Well... It never really tells in the game what the virtues are.. and I would assume that it's just as powerful.
I think thee's been some fan speculation about what the pieces represent ^w^
