Shadow joined the bad side after Sonic disappeared and Echo lost her life in a battle against Dark Silver. He hasn't been the same ever since. After he joined Gerald Jr's army, he was able to pick a color for his jacket. He chose a light sky blue, in memory of his love for Echo and Maria. And if someone were to ask him why he made it that color they'd quickly realize that's a touchy subject, because Shadow would glare at them, silently telling them to shut their mouth.
