The Toco Toucan, or more commonly known as the Common or Giant Toucan, is the largest in the Toucan family. It lives in semi-open and forested areas throughout Central and Eastern South America. They are omnivores and primarily feed on insects and fruits. They are able to regulate blood flow to its bill, allowing it to distribute heat away from its body. Their calls sound similar to frogs, and can be heard up to half a mile (0.8km) away. #bird #birds #toucan
