Because 2022 sucked and everyone says the next year will be better but if the past three years have taught anyone anything, it might suck more in 2023. Ironically this is my first comment in this year so starting off great!

mmmmm because GenZ knows America fućking sucks, and the World kinda does too, and there's no real happiness in a day passing. we have to do a whole year again. just like Sisyphus.
it's kinda depressing.

Yeah I never feel happy at new year
January only brings a month or 3 of shivering in my 17th century house and trying not to cry when everyone gets stomach bugs
to top it all off, on new year's eve, some kids who got kicked out of the pub went along our street smashing windows and pulling the wing mirrors off cars
They smashed 3 of our incredibly old panes and I'm absolutely PI5SED
I'm REALLY not looking foward to 2023
