I would say this looks alright. Though I do see what you mean when you say drawing fur is a struggle. Most of my earliest attempts at drawing fur are cringe at best. I've been working a little back-and-forth on something else recently which has a bit of fur, the likes of which I'm quite pleased with so far. I guess the best advice I could give is to see if there's any good tutorials on Youtube or something.
Again though, the tail here is stylized, but it's not bad per-say. It might just lack the realism you seek.

yes alright! nice to see you trying! just keep pracising , you find a way :)
you can't draw all the milions fur hairs, so look at the bigger picture, the color parts , the shadow parts , make the lines wobbly and tappered into one direction so it looks like fur :)
