While I'm sure there's some good totorials for that at the university of Youtube, perhaps I could help a little with some pointers of my own:

You can add shading and lighting to fur by using strokes that follow the direction of the fur, such as un and down the legs, or the length of the body. You may prefer to use short strokes with a small brush to simulate the individual hairs. It helps to use at least two layers, the lower layer for the base color and shadows, the upper layer for lighted areas and highlights, then continuing to add highlights and shadows wherever it seems needed. Honestly, there's bound to be a lot of trial and error. I'm still learning new techniques myself here from time to time.

I use 3DS. I have the demo for Colors Live on my Switch, though I think I'll pass on getting the full version on Switch for now. If I wanted to draw HD art, I could just my PC at home, where I have a dedicated drawing pad.

My brother had three bearded dragons at once, but he was really horrible with feeding them and taking care of them so they would eat each other, I felt do bad for them. and since he was bad at taking care of them I can't get an animal because my older siblings were such inresponsible pet owners.. it still makes me mad, cause they've had SO many animals, and now I'm not aloud to have one because of them... It is based on a real photo, as mentioned in the description, the requestee provided me with a photo of their pet beardie, and I painted a close up of the face as realistically as I can, minus the background. But yeah, when I'm working on a photo-realism painting, I make sure it looks as real as possible. : )

How does your beardie behave? Is it tame, and easy to handle?

That soynds like fun. : ) I live in a fairly cold region .ost of the year, so there would be a few extra steps of care for me to manage keeping one as a pet here, as compared to someone living in a more temperate environment.

Indeed. Caring for any pet can be difficult. Honestly, I prefer any animal that is low maintenance, such as lizards or cats. Dogs tend to be high maintenace, but can also be your best friends.
I like lizards because they're very quiet, and you don't need to do a whole lot to keep them happy and healthy.
