Shock had a trainer before Shadow, you may have heard of her. Her name is Tala the Cat. Even as a child, she was powerhungry, and she wanted the strongest team. So she tried many times to give Shock thunder stones to make him evolve, and he always pushed it away. Tala grew impatient with the pikachu and started to use him for training her other pokemon, then she saw he couldn't take anymore hits, so she abandoned him. Tala chained Shock to a tree and left him.

A month or 2 later, he was lying under the tree on a hot summer day, he was getting overheated and tired. And he just wanted it all to end. People had walked past him, so many times, he wanted it all to be over...untill today. Today he met a nice black and red hedgehog, and that hedgehog freed him from the chains, took him home, and finally gave him a name, Shock. The young pikachu found life was worth living again. All thanks to Shadow the Hedgehog and all of Shock's other friends too.
