Schitzophrania is a mental illness where the affected person believes something that obviously isn't true, to the point where they will have auditory and visual hallucinations. Most commonly the delusion/belief is that someone/someones are following you and are out to hurt you, other examples include: Hearing voices of angels/demons/other telling you to do things, believing that you have a strange ability, are a mythical or cryptic being, or even that you are dead, which on it's own is called Cotard's delusion, and that can also happen to people with depression, or bi-polar disorder, un-related to schitzophrania. But I recommend doing your own research as I am not a psychologist or a psychiatrist. (Although I do study various mental disorders in my freetime, and I try to make sure to get them right; all mental illnesses and disorders are complex.)
