Witness a knife in its natural habitat. Each one is different, some are for slicing cooked meats, others saw through bread. You must understand thoroughly.
STEP TWO: PRACTICE
Use a reference! Observe someone cooking (or otherwise using such blades) and get a feel for various angles and details.
STEP THREE: ADAPT
Every art style is different, and your knife should reflect this. As long as you can tell what it is, it's fine...

well, most people have kitchens...? besides that, you do seem to have internet access, considering our present communications. you could search up image references, or even go to youtube and watch some videos!
im a fan of kiwami japan, he makes blades out of unusual materials, which can really help show you some diversity in your tools :)
