Cheddar is basically cheeze. Honestly, from my experience, Broccoli goes well with various cheezes, not just cheddar. I suppose oppinions may vary though.
Also, I would advise caution when using names like that. It may have been playful and light-hearted in this context, but not all people might see it that way. You may want to supplicate it by saying something like: "*.. I say in jest", or "JK", or "*.. Spoken playfully"
